During the summer, it’s easy to live a more relaxed life, at least in terms of keeping the home organized and running efficiently. With vacations and time better spent by the pool, at the beach, or just with friends and family, home management gets put on the backburner except for the most basic of tasks. Now that school’s back in and the weather may eventually decide to stick with fall temperatures, it’s time to start putting things back in place and getting your new homes in Wilmington NC organized in time for the holiday madness.
The weather may be cooling off a bit more in Wilmington with the evening sea breezes so start thinking about organizing your clothing seasonally. Give your closet more space and organization by putting away the bulk of your summer clothing and pulling your fall and winter clothing to the front. Once the cold temperatures are here to stay, you can store away any lingering summer pieces or use them for layering. By changing out your clothing each season, you can keep track of what you have and what you need. It’s easier to get rid of pieces you know you won’t wear again or that are past their prime, rather than have them taking up valuable space in the back of the closet.
If you’ve got lots of beach towels, pool accessories, and other seasonal decorations and odds and ends, pack them up into labeled storage bins. Store them in your garage or attic, like holiday decorations, and simply pull them out when needed. This way you know where everything is instead of having odds and ends taking up space or getting lost.
Your bathroom cupboards are probably full of half-empty sunscreen bottles, summer-themed nail polishes and hair products, and other similar items. The start of any season is a good time to go through your cabinets and get rid of anything that has expired, that will expire before you use it again, or that you know you won’t use again. If there are things you want to keep, but won’t be using them for the next few months, go ahead and pack them up and store them with other summer items or at least move them to the back of the cupboards where they’re not in the way.
You should also go through your kitchen pantry and cupboards, getting rid of anything past its prime. With the holidays coming up, make sure you have all of the ingredients and tools you need and make a list of anything you know you will need. Add a few items to the shopping each week and by the time you need everything, it will all be there waiting for you. Don’t forget to make sure you have proper storage containers for things like sugar, flour and other ingredients that don’t hold up well in their original packaging. Containers will make life easier and cleaner.
If you moved into one of the new homes in Wilmington NC this year, you’ve probably been enjoying the pleasure of spreading out, settling in, and getting to know your new home. By doing a little bit of prep work now, the next season in your new home will be just as enjoyable and filled with great memories.
